Full description

Mini Needle felted magpie ornament, made from 100% organically farmed black and white merino fleece with black paper wrapped wire legs, she stands at approx 2.5 inches tall and slimmer than our standard magpie is very cheeky!

Magpies seem to be jacks of all trades scavengers, predators and pest-destroyers, they have a challenging, almost arrogant attitude and are fond of bright objects and this one has stolen the contents of my jewellery box!

One magpie is said to be bad luck unless you salute him and say "Hello Mr Magpie", there are lots of magpie rhymes, the one I was taught growing up is this one:

One for sorrow,

Two for joy,

Three for a girl,

Four for a boy,

Five for silver,

Six for gold,

Seven for a secret never to be told.

But my nan remembers it this way:

One for sorrow

Two for mirth

Three for a funeral

Four for a birth

Five for heaven

Six for hell

Seven's the Devil his own self
