"Have you met the Squawks that Squawk the Squawking talk of the Squawking Squawks"
‘The Squawks’ is the first book I have published as both author and illustrator and it developed from the name I gave to the range of bright, whimsical greetings cards that are sold in my store. I called the funny blue birds on the cards the Squawks, which led to a hilarious evening with my family, who came up with ever more words that rhymed. The joyous silliness made me laugh – not an uncommon occurrence – and spent the next eight months lovingly illustrating and writing this book. The rhyming poem still makes me laugh and I hope others will too.
