Here's a traditional wet-shaving scuttle, wheelthrown using strong white stoneware clay and finished in a lovely satin light green celadon glaze.
The bowl on top is for lather.....The bowl below is for hot water.
To use a scuttle fill the space between the top and the bottom bowl with hot water and soak for a while. Tip the water out and refill just the bottom bowl with hot water. Whip up a rich warm lather in the grooves of the top bowl. You can safely use boiling water in this scuttle.
You could even fill the chamber with cold water and then heat it in the microwave for a couple of minutes.
This scuttle measures 14cm across and 9cm high.
The bottom chamber holds 340mls.
The top bowl holds 350mls and measures 6cm deep
The whole set weighs 850gms
Dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.
