Full description

This useful crock is designed to keep your butter fresh and soft at room temperature.

The lid has a hollow flange where you should pack the butter in.

This lid is turned upside down while serving butter, but kept in the pot when not.

In the bottom dish you should add enough water to form a seal with the butter when the lid is in place.

This butterdish design was created before the invention of the fridge to keep butter fresh on the counter for several weeks. Be sure to change your water every few days to ensure the freshness of your butter.

It is not the warmth which makes the butter go off but exposure to the air.

I threw the two pieces on my pottery wheel using strong white stoneware clay and finished it in a lovely blue green reactive glaze.

The whole dish when closed measures 11cm across the lid and 9.5cm high.

The butter chamber is 6.5cm across by 5cm deep. and this one should hold about 200gms of butter.

Dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.

Weight 815gms.

I am happy to combine shipping and of course I will post anywhere---contact me for more specific costs.

Thanks for looking.
