Created through layers of individually cut and raised elements, this original mixed media artwork combines botanical imagery, symbolic portraiture, intricate pattern, and sacred feminine symbolism to create a richly textured and dimensional composition. The layered construction allows light and shadow to move across the surface, revealing new details and creating a sense of depth, mystery, and quiet transformation.
Inspired by the garden as a place of memory, resilience, renewal, and hidden stories, the central figure emerges as a contemporary Black Madonna - a guardian presence connected to ancestral wisdom, intuition, and the wild feminine. Surrounded by symbolic blooms and organic forms, she represents the unseen forces that nurture, protect, and allow us to continue growing through every season of life.
Born from the garden that saw everything, this piece explores the relationship between nature, memory, and the sacred feminine. Both contemplative and symbolic, the artwork invites reflection on what has been witnessed, what has been carried, and what continues to bloom beneath the surface.
