Full description
Handmade rug from Northumberland. Wool clippings (sourced from articles of wool clothing bought at jumble sales) are attached to hessian which is stretched across a wooden frame. Each 'clipping' is approximately 2x 4cm and one end of the clipping is pushed through the hessian via a whole made by the 'stobber', and then the other end pushed through a close adjacent whole. So the back of the mat is completely flat and made up of tiny squares of wool clippings (that you see in the photo attached) and the top of the ends of each clipping. Each design is unique. Size 82cm x 89cm
