Full description
This sumptuous scarf is woven in softest lambswool and features a design in which dots, dashes and crosses in contrast colours float over and under the background cloth. The two sides are similar-but-different as one or other of the contrast colours forms the dominant lengthways stripes while the other pops up as smaller dots. The overall effect is graphic and grown-up, with just a hint of fun colour play.
The background colour is dark espresso brown, with sage green and burnt orange forming the warp stripes and natural white the horizontal dashes.
I call these 'lush' scarves because they are generously wide and long, giving you plenty of scope for wrapping, draping, squishing up or knotting it however you fancy.
This one is approx 32cm wide x 160cm long.
Please note that the weave structure means that some areas of the pattern form a separate layer of cloth that loops over and under the background. There is some risk of fingers/buttons/earrings catching on these, but real wool likes to hold on to itself so the risk isn't extreme, you can rest assured that the fabric is essentially robust and will respond well to getting pulled back into place if necessary.
Every piece I make is unique and is woven at home in north Wales on my Louet floor loom.
This lambswool comes as surplus from British mills where it is normally used to produce high-end designer knitwear.
Wash infrequently, with care, and it will last you a lifetime.
