Unframed but Ready to Hang
I wanted a very simple painting, the focus going into the detail and movement in the dress. By stripping down the composition I've placed the emphasis on the painting technique, and keeping the colours clean and sharp. It is a painting based on an incredible young dancer called Heiley Fairhurst, and is the beginning of a series of collaborations together. In all her poses she's wonderfully graceful and commanding, her physical and technical strength absolutely mesmerizing.
This is considerably larger than my usual artwork and has taken several months to complete. It's a pleasure to scale up once in a while and enjoy focusing in on details. I've chosen not to frame it as the size means framing would be a considerable investment which might not suite it's eventual home. It would be better to leave the choice to you, or leave it unframed as the box canvas looks white modern and proud against the wall.
