Full description
Linocut on Paper Mounted but Unframed
From a limited edition of 50
Size: 25.5 x 30.5 x 0.3cm (unframed) 20 x 25cm (actual image size)
Signed and numbered on the front
Artwork description:
Print of a raven looking over his shoulder, his intelligence clear in his bright gaze at the viewer. All prints are hand printed and finished, the bottom painted just after printing to create a slightly looser more painterly finish. This does mean that each print, while numbered and part of a series, is unique and the finish will vary quite a lot. I have more lino prints in my shop, including this one with gold leaf in the background.
What is a Linocut?
Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a printer
