"Echo - The Uncomparable" was inspired by the feeling of never quiet measuring up - of being shaped by comparison until you lose sight of your own value. The carousel horse became a symbol of repetition and stagnation, trapped in a loop of performance without progress.
He doesn't see his strength or his beauty - only what he believes he lacks. And in that belief, he allows himself to fade.
Part of a four part series exploring mental health, hidden struggles and the darker side of performance.

Step right up....to a story that was never meant to shine.
"Echo - The Comparable! is a dark circus art print exploring impostor syndrome, self-worth, and quiet neglect. This faded carousel horse stands as a relic of something once meaningful-now reduces to background noise, endlessly circling without recognition.
Part of my Ghosts Of The Big Top series, Echo carries the weight of comparison. Once, figures like him were ties to strength and purpose - his ancestors trained noble knights for battles. Now, he exists only to entertain, diminished by the belief that he is less, that he is not enough.
This piece sits alongside Ligati - Bound By The Hand, which explores control and emotional entrapment. While Ligati is bound by external forces, Echo is held in place by internal doubt - together, they reflect two sides of the same struggle; being controlled by what surrounds you, and by what you believe about yourself.
Created using layered textile stitching and mixed media, the original artwork embraces worn textures, muted tones, and fragile detail. The softness of thread contrasts with the heaviness of the theme- beauty unraveling under the weight of self doubt.
