Full description
For hundreds of years, Ernest the puppet has lived for the applause of others. A career spent entertaining children has left him hollow;a performer with a colorful exterior but no internal anchor.
This piece captures the exact moment of his existential crisis. In despair of his mundane repetitive life, Ernest's shadow finally breaks free and runs away. The vibrant, chaotic colors of his hat represent the sudden, violent burst of energy required for such a flight - Without his shadow and without a core of his own - Ernest begins to physically come apart at the seams.
This high quality print captures every tactile detail of the original mixed media artwork, from the frayed cotton threads and vintage French calendar ( dated 14th April) to the metallic glint of Ernest's bell.
To make framing easy, I have sized these prints to fit standard UK off the shelf frames.
Sizes Available
Print Size 15 X 20 cm for a A4 Frame
Print Size A4 (21 X 29.7 CM) for a 30 x 40 cm Frame
Print Size A3 (29.7 x 42 cm ) for a 40 X50 cm frame
This is a premium Giclee reproduction of my original mixed media piece. I have specifically chosen Hahnemuhle German Etching paper for it's unique, velvety texture. This heavy-weight, mold-made paper provides an incredible depth that brings out the intricate unraveling threads of Ernest's shadow, making it feel almost as tactile as the original hand stitched work.
