A lovely winter walk along the cliffs of Guernsey, on the way towards Moulin Huet. The sea was looking a gorgeous turquoise, yet the sky was a very pale grey.

Full description

This original oil painting, titled “Towards Moulin Huet,” was inspired by a photograph I took from the cliff path above Petit Port in Guernsey, looking out along the coastline towards the bay.

Painted in oils on paper, the scene reflects a quiet winter day. A pale grey sky stretches above the cliffs, which are painted in deep brown tones typical of the landscape during the colder months. Below, the sea provides a beautiful contrast with its clear turquoise colour.

Unlike many of my artworks, this piece does not include my usual stitched or bead-embroidered details. Instead, the texture comes entirely from the painting process. The oil paint has been applied with a palette knife, with areas scratched back into the surface to create depth and interest.

The painting is initialled by the artist in the bottom left corner.

It is presented in a conservation-grade mount to help protect the artwork, and I have framed it in a warm mahogany-coloured wooden frame. A hanging wire is attached to the back so it is ready to display.

This is a one-of-a-kind original painting and the frame shown is included in the sale.

Medium: Oil on paper

Frame size (external dimensions): 445mm x 490mm
