These little mice were inspired by the tiny stories that Penny Black stamps evoke—moments of joy, kindness, and quiet imagination. Hand‑painting each one allows their personalities to emerge: the confident twirl of the ballerina mouse, the dreamy concentration of the moonlit mouse, and the gentle helpfulness of the flower‑lifting mouse. They are small pieces of illustrated storytelling, created to add warmth and delight to the simple act of giving a gift.

This listing is for a set of four hand watercoloured gift tags featuring a collection of sweet, characterful mice.Each illustration begins as a Penny Black stamp impression and is then individually painted by hand, giving every tag its own character and tiny variations. The tags are finished with a reinforced hole punch so they can be tied securely to gifts, treat bags, or keepsakes.
The set includes:
1 and 2. A mouse dancing joyfully in her pink tutu (two different versions, each with its own movement and expression)
3. A mouse perched on a crescent moon, carefully hanging a star
4. A mouse holding up a flower so that a visiting bee can reach it
Each tag is painted on quality card with soft washes of colour and fine ink details. The illustrations are designed to bring a smile before the gift is even opened, making them perfect for children, animal lovers, and anyone who enjoys gentle, whimsical stationery.
Every tag is hand finished in my Lincolnshire studio, and because they are individually watercoloured, each one carries its own tiny variations, making every set unique.
