Growing up in rural Somerset trees held a fascination for me. Dad and I would either climb up them in the evening and wait for the foxes and badgers to come out or he would show me how to use them to find my way even after dark.
I don't think that I'm alone in seeing them as friends who were old when I was born and will hopefully still be standing proud long after I'm gone.
Look out for your local conservation group and spare some time to look after your old friends!

Full description
Our climate is definitely changing, it feels like it's been raining for weeks now. Flooding is becoming a normal part of life as our environment struggles to cope. Heading out in shorts and sandals we went exploring, wading through about a foot of water along the banks of the little Emmbrook I did end up admiring the reflections of the trees in the still water and intensity of the greens all around me. This painting is the result
