Full description
Titled 'A Forest Walk', the real lichen, moss, and mushrooms hand sewn into this hat were collected on a walk around a temperate forest in the South of the UK.
I love to create pieces for custom orders such as brooches, pocket boutonniere/squares, hair slides, or jewellery, so please contact me if you want items such as these. Please note, however, the making times and prices would vary for custom pieces depending on the quantity and detail requested.
Care instructions:
The hat is made from 100% wool, and the lichen, moss, and mushrooms for this hat have been desiccated to preserve them. Due to the nature of the materials used, is it best if the item does not get wet, is handled with care, and is stored away from prolonged periods of direct sunlight.
If dusty, a lint roller may be used on the woollen part only, and a damp cloth may be used to clean other marks. Make sure the hat is fully dry before storing again. A soft makeup brush could also be used to gently sweep of any debris from the foliage.
As with any dried plants/fungi, these will naturally deteriorate over time if exposed to a humid environment or household "pest" species. For this reason, it is recommended that this hat is stored in a dry place with a silica gel packet and is frequently checked for signs of clothes moths or carpet beetles which are attracted to woollen materials. Disturbing the area frequently helps to deter anything that wants to munch your new hat!
