I needle felted this Saguaro cactus using natural wool fibres.

This cactus is in flower and is wearing a crown of beautiful blue blooms (which are actually tiny dried flowers) and more of the same flowers on the tips of its “arms”. It sits in “soil” in a real terracotta plant pot.

Needle felting is the process of using specially designed barbed needles to manipulate wool fibres into 3D objects, such as soft sculpture figurines, or into a solid fabric. It is quite a long process and patience is needed, but it is so absorbing and thoroughly enjoyable!
