I’ve always been fascinated by Redcar’s seaside history and the way the old and new pier coexist. In 2015, I wanted to capture this contrast in a single, dramatic image. Using a gothic, oblique art style, I blended historical postcards and photographs with my own illustrations to create something that felt both nostalgic and contemporary. This postcard is entirely hand-designed by me — years before AI-generated art was known — and represents my love for local history, seaside landscapes, and original artistic expression.
