Full description

This is a one off 30cm diameter lampshade. This is an original cyanotype photogram of ferns and allium seed heads. It can be used as a shade for a lamp or ceiling pendant for versatility.

The cyanotype process involves cotton the fabric, this is 100% cotton in UV reactive chemicals. Once dry I have places the fern leaves and allium seed heads on the fabric, placed glass on top so they don’t move and then left the fabric in the sun to expose. The fabric is then rinsed repeatedly until all the chemicals are washed out. This then reveals the wonderful classic cyan blue where UV light reached the fabrics and white and paler blues where the sub did not reach of only partially reached.

Looks lovely with light on or off, gives a cozy glow.

I have then made the lamp shade from the material backed with UV stabilised PVC that has passed the glow wire test carried out by the Lighting Association.

Shade only.
