Full description
This recycled Top Hat is unique. I have decorated it using the ancient art of Pin Sticking. This technique started in 1650 when people made Layette Pincushions given to a mother when her baby was born. I have brough this technique into the 21st century.
A band of ecclesiastical metallic and gold and green braid was pin stuck at the top and bottom of the vertical sides of this grey top hat. The same braid was pleated and applied to the rim. A decorative line of beaded trimming salvaged from vintage Indian saris was placed between the lines of these two bands. A sequined butterfly was pinned to the middle of the top of the hat and surrounded by more vintage Indian trimmings. It comes with it own original bespoke Lock & Co. cardboard box.
This top hat is for display and cannot be worn.
