I found this footstool discarded at a local recycling yard, worn, tired, and clearly no longer wanted. It was sad to see such a well made piece thrown away after so many years of service.
Although time had taken its toll, the structure was still strong, and it felt important to save it from being lost altogether.
Restoring it was a way of respecting the craftsmanship that went into making it in the first place.
This stool has now been given a second life. What was once neglected and unloved is ready to be used, appreciated, and cared for again in a new home.

Hand Restored Antique Oak Footstool
French Polished, Rewoven Seagrass
This beautifully restored antique oak footstool has been carefully upcycled by hand using traditional craft techniques.
Dating from around the 1920s, it is solid, practical, and made to last.
The oak frame has been French polished by my own hands, enhancing the natural grain and warmth of the wood while respecting its age.
The seat has been completely rewoven in natural seagrass by mu wife, carried out slowly and carefully using traditional methods.
This is a one of a kind piece, restored rather than replaced, and finished to be fully usable while retaining its character.
