This weave structure invites colour play and has become one of my favourites for that reason. I have a lot of fun trying out a mix of familiar and more challenging colour combinations and seeing what happens. On the small-wearable scale of a cowl, it’s often surprising what works.

Full description
This single loop cowl was woven in softest merino lambswool using a weave structure that produces a plump but lightweight fabric, which I then sew into a loop with a twist so that it will always lies elegantly around your neck.
The colour palette is based on a 2-colour warp – safflower orange and powder green (pictured in the background) – alternating with cream and dark chocolate in the weft.
A comfy cowl like this can add the perfect pop of colour to any outfit and cheer up the gloomiest of winter days.
Dimensions: approx. 25cm high x 58cm circumference (with a bit of stretch due to the weave structure)
Every piece I make is unique and is woven at home in north Wales on my Louet floor loom.
This lambswool comes as surplus from British mills where it is normally used to produce high-end designer knitwear.
Wash infrequently, with care, and it will last you a lifetime.
