Inspired by a family holiday to Brittany some years ago, I've hand stamped POWERED BY BUTTER onto a vintage butter spreader with a slightly translucent yellow probably celluloid (or at any rate plastic of some sort) handle and a silver-plated round-ended blade. A great letterbox gift for a butter-lover!
It's about 17cm long and the black in the letters is a harmless water-based acrylic ink. The joint between blade and handle is still sound and it's generally in good nick and still shiny.
Wash by hand and don't ever leave your spreader soaking in water as this will eventually loosen the handle joint. This applies to any cutlery where blade and handle are of different materials!
