Spring is in the air, time to get out in the garden and also time to give your indoor plants some attention! Old flatware makes great plant labels whether indoors or out…

An antique three-pronged silver-plated bread serving fork with an elegantly scalloped handle. Below the tines I've hand stamped it 'BREAD' with vintage stamping dies.
The ideal small gift for anyone who loves quirky old stuff, it's just right for spearing bread rolls from a basket and can be used for serving sliced meats or chunky sausages too. Do be careful though, the teeth are quite sharp, I'd recommend using this as a serving implement only and NOT as a weapon no matter how irritating your dinner guests may be. Also keep out of reach of unsupervised children, just in case. Also please note this is NOT a toasting fork, it's nowhere near long enough!
You will receive the fork shown in the photos. It is about 17cm long, and according to the design registry number on the back it dates to around 1910. As you can see from the photos it does have some wear to its original silver plating, and as already noted the tips of the tines are quite sharp because of polishing.
The lettering is coloured with a waterbased acrylic ink. Hand washing is recommended to prolong the pigment life.
This item is a bit old and battered and although I did my best with my well-worn set of Victorian stamping dies the lettering still didn't stamp as clearly as I would have liked. So here it is in the 'perfectly imperfect' weekend at a bargain price. All postage in my shop is always combined whether for bargains or not, by the way...
