The earliest written mention of natural pearls was recorded by a Chinese historian in 2206 BC.
In ancient Vedic texts, the pearl is born of Earth's waters and Heaven's powers, fertilised by a flash of lightening.
Pearls are thought to be a calming gem, and have long been associated with integrity, purity, loyalty and faith.
Pearl is the traditional birthstone for June and Gemini, the stone for the 30th wedding anniversary, and has been associated with love and marriage for thousands of years.
Potato Pearls are not-quite-round, and have slight surface irregularities. These ones have a silver-grey main colour, with overtones of iridescent 'peacock' colours - hints of green, blue, bronze and purple.

Freshwater peacock Pearl and Moonstone bracelet.
These stunning Freshwater silver-grey peacock potato Pearls measure approximately 6-7mm and have a beautiful iridescent sheen of silvery blue, green, bronze and mauve over a silver-grey base colour.
The Pearls are separated by 4mm AA grade faceted grey Moonstone coin beads.
The bracelet fastens with a sterling silver lobster clasp.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a lovely gift for a birthday, anniversary, Valentine's, or as a treat for yourself.

This bracelet measures approximately 7 inches (17.5cm).
Your bracelet will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
