Kala was born from autumn in the Nordics: crisp air, saturated reds, and the quiet glow of seasonal transition. The Virginia creeper leaves were harvested at peak maturity, when colour, texture, and structure were at their richest. With gold accents representing light and coral as a nod to organic treasure, the piece speaks to nature’s cycles-decay, renewal, preservation.

A story of transformation and the deep reds of Finland.
I found these Virginia creeper leaves during the peak of the autumn season in Finland. In Finnish, "Kala" means fish. This piece is inspired by that quiet movement and the amazing transformation of nature before winter. The red of these leaves was so deep and powerful that I had to preserve them on this Finnish birch wood.
I carefully collected these leaves to keep their rich autumn colour. To create depth, I used pieces of wood and small touches of natural coral as a support to lift the composition. I also added gold leaf to catch the light, like the sun hitting the forest floor. It is a balance between the raw strength of nature and very fine details.
Size: 27x27x6 cm (Deep box frame).
Materials: Virginia creeper leaves from Finland, eco-friendly Finnish birch, gold leaf, and eco-label acrylic.
Natural Evolution: This is a living piece. Because I use real organic leaves, the colours will naturally change and evolve over time. This is the beauty of using real nature. To protect it, please do not hang it in a humid place.
