This artwork is inspired by the thrill of seeing a real kingfisher – my favourite sighting is not the kingfishers we sometimes see shimmering over the streams, out in the fields, nor the ones we saw fishing by a bridge on holiday in Scotland, but the one which we, quite improbably, saw on the River Foss, right in the centre of York, just as we were walking back to our car after an afternoon shopping! It just goes to show that a kingfisher may be closer than you think, even at this very moment…

This was one of my most intricate pieces to create - drawn slowly and carefully in layers of coloured pencils and pens in my Yorkshire cottage, to capture that flash of magic. If you’ve ever waited by a quiet stream hoping for a glimpse of a kingfisher, this print is for you.
Your print is giclée-produced by a Fine Art Trade Guild–certified printer on archival, eco-friendly bamboo paper to ensure the colours stay vibrant for a lifetime. Each print is signed, checked, and wrapped with care using acid-free, sustainable materials.
