Like many artists I greatly admire the work of Edward Hopper. This is a master study where I have referenced Hopper's original work and tried to capture the contemplative sense of the image with my own painting. The reference picture I used was very small and therefore I don't try to recreate the original, I use my own detail.

Full description
An oil painting on wood panel. This was inspired by Edward Hopper's Morning Sun. Using only a small reference picture, I began with a loose under painting and refined the image by focusing on developing the light and shadow. The painting has been satin varnished and is unframed. The wood panel has depth and sits proud of the wall.
