Angelite is more commonly found in shades of pale blue (also known as blue anhydrite) but occasionally the presence of chromium in its chemical composition creates more of a pale green. Green angelite is often thought to be a calming stone which promotes a sense of peace.
Selenite’s name is derived from the Greek for ‘moon’ due to its silvery white appearance. It forms in the shape of rods, most famously in the Naica Mine in Chihuahua, Mexico where over millions of years some have grown to the height of several storey buildings. These particular stones are from Morocco and are a mix of the natural white plus a variety of dyed rainbow colours that really show the way light reflects like satin inside the stone. Selenite is thought to be the stone of ‘white light’, helping to cleanse and absorb negative energies.
