Full description
Stunning textile card in golds and bronze, made from upcycled offcuts of embroidered satin curtain sample with a beautiful sheen and a tiny bit of sparkle. Blank inside, my Muted Metallic Gold greetings cards are also ideal for any special occasion - including Golden Weddings.
Each card is unique, using different fabrics and stitches (the photos are examples). Some have more darker gold and bronze tones, others are mostly lighter gold and cream - you can choose in the options.
Zero waste - these cards have been made from curtain sample books. Used by interior designers and curtain makers, these books are discarded at the end of the product line - often ending up in landfill unless rescued. I carefully dismantle them and cut out the usable material for my upcycled makes, but I wanted to find a way of also using the fabric at the edges which have card glued to the back.
So I created my own patchwork collage with strips of the card-backed fabric placed together side by side on a cotton fabric and the edges overstitched with decorative machine embroidery - techniques borrowed from foundation piecing and raw edge applique.
The collage was then sliced into squares and edged with blanket stitch to catch the stray threads, before being straight stitched to the card.
The card is premium white cardstock, and come with a matching white envelope.
