Full description
Vintage arts and crafts inspired greeting card, upcycled from a botanical embroidered textile paired with tweed wool. Ideal for birthdays as well as many other special occasions. Blank inside for your message you could also use this card to send a hand written note - or frame it as a beautiful little picture.
The embroidered textile is from a curtain sample book that I rescued and stopped from going to landfill. The fabric is beautiful - with intricate embroidery in silky threads in pinks and greens on a dark cream linen mix background with a pronounced weave. I used most of the sample piece to make one of my vintage style Christmas Stockings, but I had enough offcuts to make just a few cards.
The green wool background is also salvaged - it's factory waste from a tailoring busness.
I machined sewed the floral textile to the wool tweed using blanket stitch to catch stray fibres, with cotton quilt wadding sandwiched between them to give a more luxurious padding. I then straight stitched all the layers to the card, and hand frayed the wool to add even more texture.
The card is premium white cardstock, and come with a matching white envelope.
