Full description
Beautiful bookmark that has eco-credentials as well as good looks. Combining a beautiful vintage style embroidered linen textile with pure wool tweed, and backed with silky velvet, it is very tactile - you will want to stroke and smooth it. An ideal gift for book lovers, it is easy to post and great as stocking filler.
Zero waste - all the textiles are reclaimed or offcuts.
Both the embroidered flower front and the green velvet back are fabrics I reclaimed from a curtain sample book destined for landfill, and the soft green wool layer is surplus tweed from a tailoring business.
The embroidered front has been machined to wool fabric using blanket stitch to catch stray fibres. After straight stitching these layers to the green velvet backing, I frayed the wool to give even more texture.
The curtain sample fabrics have a backing of paper (the original edge of the curtain sample), giving the bookmark a little extra rigidity.
Unique gift - there is only enough fabric to make a small number of bookmarks from each sample, and each one has different embroidered details and colour accents. See my other listings.
