In 2021 we managed to get a short break up the east coast of Scotland and had a lovely day at Crathes castle, most notable for seeing red squirrels leaping from branch to branch above us on our walk around the beautiful grounds. I also saw a beautiful comma butterfly that day.
It was a good day, and this trip that inspired my little squirrels, I hope you like them.

This listing is for the dark red coloured squirrel which is depicted in the first three pictures. I have a separate listing for the ginger one to allow me to accurately indicate the stock that I have for each colour.
Bring the charm of nature to your Christmas tree with these delightful little red squirrels! Inspired by a magical walk around the grounds of Crathies Castle, where I first encountered our native red squirrels, these ornaments are sure to add a touch of whimsy to your festive decor.
Each squirrel is lovingly handcrafted, with the exception of their glass eyes. With needlefelted body, their tails are made with wire, wool bats, and tussah silk fibres, while their ears are needlefelted with tussah silk tufts. This meticulous process ensures that each squirrel has its own unique character. Some even feature special markings for added variety.
You can choose between two beautiful shades of red: a vibrant ginger and a rich, foxy red. These charming ornaments are petite, measuring around 9cm in length (including their tail) and approximately 3cm in height. They come with a wide loop, making them easy to hang and balance on your tree.
Perfect for an eclectic Christmas tree, these adorable red squirrels will bring joy and a touch of nature to your holiday celebrations.
