Bilbo the Bilby – Woodland Wanderer with a Curious Heart
Hand-carved & painted creature from The Whimsy Burrow
Bilbo is a gentle soul with a nose for adventure and a fondness for moonlit strolls. With his wide eyes and soft paws, he’s always listening—especially for stories whispered by snails, secrets tucked into tree bark, and the rustle of something magical just out of sight.
Though shy at first, Bilbo is fiercely loyal once befriended. He’s partial to lavender tea, lost buttons, and the kind of quiet that hums with possibility.
Bilbo was carved from basswood using a single knife, shaped slowly and thoughtfully to capture his creaturely charm. His surface was gently sanded, then painted with watercolour and acrylics to bring out the soft greys of his fur and the blush of his ears. Finally, he was sealed with Danish oil for a warm, lasting finish.
Bilbo stands approximately 10cm tall, 3.5cm wide, and 3.5cm deep—just the right size to perch among petals or keep watch from a bookshelf burrow.
