Zero waste bookmark made from a beautiful crewel style embroidered textile, reclaimed from old curtain sample books. Soft and tactile, in reds and blue, with layers of blue wool twill and wool felt. A great stocking filler, and easy to post.
Unique gift - there is only enough fabric to make a small number of bookmarks from each sample, and each one has different embroidered details and colour accents.
This bookmark is slightly larger than the others I make, so ideal for books big and small, the fuzziness of the wool backing helps keep it in place.
I reclaimed the cream embroidered fabric from a curtain sample book destined for landfill - I used most of the piece for a Christmas Stocking but had enough left over for a few bookmarks.
The soft wool layer is surplus from making medieval re-enactment garments, and the backing is wool felt offcut from making my playmats.
The floral themed fabric has been machined to wool fabric using blanket stitch to catch stray fibres. After straight stitching these layers to the felt backing, I frayed the wool to give even more texture.
