As is often the case, the inspiration came from the yarn itself as I was spinning it. I loved the small inclusions of recycled sari silk that added small accents of colour, and was particularly taken by the contrast of the purple-black with the bright emerald green. I then emphasized this contrast, and the slight shine of the slub silk by using a matching green silk as the warp, and spinning some more recycled sari silk to use at the ends of the scarf.

Full description
This warm scarf has been hand-woven on an emerald-green silk warp, in a plain weave pattern. The dark purple-black weft is hand-spun yarn from a mix of merino wool and llama, along with inclusions of recycled sari silk that add tiny but vibrant pops of yellow, pink and red. While the midnight purple colour dominates the scarf, the two ends have bright bands of recycled sari silk yarn that pick up the included colours. The scarf is 138 x 20 cm in size (excluding the silk fringes). Use only a cool handwash, line dry, and press with a cool iron
