Full description
A trio of gift tags, made from recycled and salvaged textiles and haberdashery, including vintage silk and lace, offcuts from curtain sample books, and old buttons. Each tag comes with a smaller detachable card tag that can be replaced - so you can reuse them many times. Perfect for adding a little luxury trim to a Christmas gift.
Set of 3. Each tag measures 12 by 6 cm (approx 4.5 by 2.5 inches), with cotton strings for tying to your gift.
I have a zero waste approach to crafting where I try to use every scrap and remnant in smaller makes.
For these tags I used ivory raw silk fabric scraps, saved when making my own wedding dress back in the 90s - which I machine stitched to the front of luggage cards with a light brown thread. I then layered a rectange of fabric from curtain sample books, cut from the edge that has paper backing. Finally I stitched on a narrow vintage lace trim that I found in a very old sewing box given to me by a family friend, and chose a button from my ever growing collection.
Each tag is unique, having a different offcut from the Silk Road collection by iLiv, in the sapphire blue colour. The fabrics are beautifully textured, including a embroidered geometric motif and a leafy tapestry in mixed materials, and a rustic weave in cotton.
The buttons are vintage - one is mother of pearl, the other two are early plastics with a pearlised effect.
I will be adding similar sets in different colours.
