This pendant began its journey over a century ago, sealed inside a Codd bottle invented by Hiram Codd in 1872 to keep fizzy drinks fresh. Victorian children often smashed the bottles just to claim the marble inside—making survivors like this one rare and precious.
After decades tumbling in the sea, this marble washed up on a North West beach, where I found it and gave it new life. Now wrapped in fine silver and set to spin freely, it’s a tactile, wearable piece of history.

Full description

Made from recycled silver and a beach-found Codd marble, this spinner pendant is a piece with a gentle soul.

Smooth and irresistibly tactile, the marble spins freely in its setting—making it the ultimate in fidget jewellery. A touch of everyday luxury, infused with the whimsy of a bygone time.

Codd marbles come from Codd bottles, invented in the 1870s by Hiram Codd to bottle fizzy pop. Victorian children were fascinated by the marbles inside. After finishing the drink, they would often smash the bottle to retrieve the marble. These were considered precious treasures, and once freed, were used to play traditional games like marbles.

Their aqua colour and frosted appearance made them especially appealing—made even more beautiful after years of tumbling in the sea, like this one.

The pendant hangs from an 18-inch chunky solid sterling silver belcher chain and fastens with a feature clasp for added character and ease of wear. The marble is wrapped in fine silver. I usually have a few of these in stock so the one in the pictures may not be the one that you receive, they are all very similar so have not listed them separately.

Full of charm and character, this piece reflects my jewellery-making values—with recycled and sustainable materials at the heart of everything I create.

Each piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind, with its own story to tell.

Found and refounded by me.
