Inspired by the grim story of Frozen Charlotte. In 1840 a young woman froze to death on her way to a ball because she refused to wear a coat over her dress. By the time she reached the ball she had frozen to death for choosing vanity of practicality. A true Victorian morality tale! To immortalise the tale various forms of the doll were made. Like most toys they were then discarded as the went out of fashion. Lost and forgotten they are found frequently by us mudlarkers and beachcombers. Found whole or in part, this one survived its journey to me whole because of its tiny stature. Refounded in silver by me and ready for her next less treacherous adventure!

Frozen Charlotte solid sterling silver charm pendant. Cast from a 3cm mudlarked frozen Charlotte doll found by me. Comes with an 18 inch sterling silver chain.
