Full description
This set of three christmas baubles has been designed and handmade in my Dunblane studio from gorgeous iridescent stained glass. The glass featured in this arrangement has delicate water ripple textures and iridescent sheen it which makes these decorations very festive and unique. This design is extremely popular with clients at Christmas craft markets I attend. The concept of these decorations marries traditional christmas tree bauble shape with contemporary application of unique stained glass material into 2D design.
To make these ornaments I use a copper foil or Tiffany technique. This is a method where strips of copper foil with a very strong adhesive are attached to previously cut and ground shapes of stained glass. I then apply hot solder onto the copper foil to create long lasting framing around the glass. The colour of solder is silver and I achieve black finish with brushing black patina onto the solder. The last part of the process is cleaning and polishing already made piece. These decorations are made with lots of care and attention to details to ensure not only a piece that is beautiful but also long lasting.
