I enjoy crocheting with natural fibres, mainly cotton, and many of my home decor items use recycled braided cotton cord or recycled cotton T shirt yarn. Full description
This sturdy basket is made from a premium recycled thick braided golden yellow cord decorated with a friendly lion's face with a chunky orange mane. It would be perfect for storing small toys or books in a child's room or in a jungle themed nursery. It could be used elsewhere in the house as a fun way to display a houseplant or as a project basket to keep your balls of yarn tidy.
It is hand crocheted by me, using a decorative stitch that looks like knitting. The way this stitch is worked really helps the basket keep its shape. The mane is crocheted onto the basket and the ears are securely sewn in place. The facial features are hand embroidered using a mercerised cotton yarn, I have used toy safety eyes and covered the backs with yellow felt circles hand sewn to the inside of the basket.
The basket measures approximately 21cm in diameter and 15cm in height.
As the basket is handmade, every one I make will be similar to the photos but will not be identical. The embroidered features give each lion their own individual personality, you will be buying a unique item, definitely not a mass produced one!
Please note that this is a decorative item, it is not a toy. The eyes are securely attached but due to their size they could pose a choking hazard.
I recommend surface clean only with a damp cloth to keep the item dust free. The basket may be gently washed by hand in warm water. Do not soak, do not tumble dry, do not iron. Mould into shape whilst damp.
