Shown by McCormick, Salganik and Zheng's 2010 study the average american knows 611 people they can name, however a study during 2023 Roser estimated you will meet 80,000 people within an average lifetime of 73 years. This is reflected through 0.001% of the world's population, within the 80,000 people you are likely to form 29 close friends and 150 friendships To reflect these numbers within my work i want to create a design that mirrors the 80,000 people and where they become placed within your brain based on facial expressions and body language and how this determines what emotion you associate with them.

Full description

This piece is based on the patterns associated with the emotion of Triumph, the artwork is sold with a black frame, the artwork is adhered to the frame as it features no glass due to the 3D elements of the artwork.

Dimensions of the frame are 12x12 inches.

This piece is a deconstructed section of a larger 5ft x 5ft exhibition work, composed of 25 individual panels. Each square features an abstract pattern inspired by human emotions and the process of interpreting the emotions of others. Using three distinct colour combinations per panel, I explored how colour theory influences emotional response, while also incorporating string and beads to represent neural pathways. These intricate patterns not only mimic the structure of neurons but also reflect the connection between shape and emotion. All visual motifs were developed from data gathered through questionnaires, where participants described how they mentally visualise emotional experiences.
