The folk art of the British canals is often romanticised in our current times, now that we primarily use the canals for leisure, though the life of the boating families would have been very laborious in the heyday of the industry. The boaters used their rose and castle art to brighten their homes and provide decoration in a space too small to allow many items for purely decorative purposes. A decorated hairbrush like this is something they may well have found space for in the tiny boatmans cabin.

Beautiful roses adorn the back of this hairbrush. Made of wood with bamboo bristles it feels wonderful in the hand. The bristles are natural bamboo and good for distributing oils through the hair. The air cushion design makes it wonderful for a head massage to encourage hair growth.
