An ode to the stag that offered this rawhide and it's life to protect the virgin wood so future generations of it's kin do not need to be culled and can have a thriving woodland to inhabit on in the Scottish Highlands. I processed the skin many years ago and only recently felt drawn to create with it. The spirit of this animal has been in my consciousness the last months and creating it's image bring forth further insights about the symbolism of energy of this being.

Rowan branch hoop, framing a stag rawhide centre with hand drawn Pictish-celtic stylised stag motif held in place by hemp twine weave. Rawhide processed by myself from locally culled red deer.
