I first came up with this idea 14 years ago when I rehomed my first ever six ex battery hens. I wanted something safe and easy for the hens to feed from. It also allows them to all feed at once without overcrowding. I found it was lovely and easy to keep clean, and have used them for all my flocks since. The troughs last for around 10 years on average, with a little care and maintenance.

Full description

This is a hand made, recycled wooden trough/feeder, suitable for up to six medium hens. It can also be used by ducks, quail, turkeys and other poultry. This item measures approx. 43cm long, 15cm wide and 9cm deep.

The design means it's very stable and is hard for your rowdy flock to over turn! It holds around 500g of crumble feed or pellets.

The wood has been reclaimed/recycled, and planed smooth. It has not been treated, so it's natural and won't contain toxins that will affect your birds. You can treat it with a poultry safe item if you so wish.

If you would like to commission a custom sized trough or design, please contact me to discuss.
