Mountain keepsake box.
Store your jewellery items on a bedside table, give as a unique and original gift, or use as a safe place to store your watch overnight.
The main body of the box outer is made from harris tweed in shades of rust, olive green and ivory - this mixes to a brown overtone, but close examination picks out the individual yarn colours used in the weave.
The lid is made from a handmade textile created by me. Made from non woven interfacing and acrylic paints, then cut and layered to create a mountain scene in miniature.
The box is fully lined in felt in a co-ordinating lemon yellow and the box itself is constructed by hand stitching. A recycled plastic button is used with a loop of matching thread to close this treasure box.
The nature of this item means it has a rustic, raw edge look, with pokey out threads and fuzzy edges. This is entirely deliberate and is not a fault.
This is a functional item but is not meant to withstand rough handling, so should be kept away from children and animals. This box uses no plastic in the construction, and the support is provided by stiffened hessian.
Approximately 5.5cm x 5.5cm x 5.5cm, although it’s not a perfect cube by any means.
In fact, it's quite wonky. It's handmade, after all.
