I snapped up a small quantity of this fabric as it was a limited edition - I also loved the soft colour tones.
This special fabric was a limited edition and I only have a small quantity available. And, since The Strawberry Thief in Australia has ceased trading, these special fabric button pendants are extremely limited editions.
While the original design dates to the Victorian era, Liberty first adapted it for furnishing fabrics in 1979, but introduced a smaller-scale version for their renowned Tana Lawn cotton in 1955. This contemporary interpretation with its vibrant colour scheme brings Morris' timeless artistry into the modern era.

Strawberry Thief – the most well-known of William Morris’ patterns – has been given an exclusive soft lilac colour palette!
This fabric was a special collaborative colourway with Alice Caroline (Liberty fabrics, UK) and The Strawberry Thief in Australia.
Each pendant showcases a carefully selected portion of the beloved pattern—a naughty thrush perched against a cream background, surrounded by intricate foliage and blossoms in captivating lilacs, soft greens and ochre yellow accents. Originally created in 1883 and inspired by the birds that would steal his fruit in Morris' own Kelmscott Manor garden, this design represents the height of Arts and Crafts movement artistry.
Meticulously handmade, this smaller pendant measures just under 3cm with the fabric-covered button lovingly set in an antique bronze-plated alloy pendant tray (nickel, cadmium and lead-free) with decorative swirling patterns adorning the reverse.
The finished pendant measures 3cm wide and 4cm long including the 1cm bail, and hangs from an elegant 20 (or 22)inch antique bronze-plated fine chain secured with a coordinating lobster clasp. Please note this chain is not adjustable within the links.
