My poems come out of a mindfulness practice, something I began engaging with whilst researching a Ph.D. on Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh (http://plumvillage.org/). His teachings and indeed his poems have had a profound effect on me,
It is in moments of awareness that the words of the poems just come, as if they are already in the air and I just pick them up and put them to paper.
I was also helped to start writing by friend and fellow practitioner Pete, who led a Day of Mindfulness and poetry and said, ‘you can write a poem about anything’. These words unlocked something inside and the poems began to flow.
I also lead mindful writing workshops and retreats, and for me the starting point of writing is being quiet and still enough to notice what is present, either around or within me. This is what I write about.

All the poems in these booklets are written by me, and are part of my mindfulness practice.
1. The unmoving quiet - size A6, features 23 original poems written between 2012 and 2015.
2. I am elemental - size A6, features 18 original poems written between 2014 - 15
3. Lean into the wind - size A5, features 77 (yes, 77!) original poems written between 2010 and 2018.
4. The Quiet Rebellion - size A6, features 26 original poems written from 2021 to date.
Many of the poems are inspired by the teachings of Buddhist Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh and were written on a retreat, sometimes in Plum Village, France where he resided.

The poetry booklets will be carefully wrapped and sent securely in recycled packaging as I am trying to be as eco-friendly as possible.
