Spring is in the air… well OK for most of us in GB it isn’t quite yet, but it’s coming! So why not greet it with a spoon or two, whether that’s a valentine gift, some plant labels for the garden, or one of my unique naturist spoons for brewing up in the great outdoors once it’s warmed up a bit?

I have now put my postage up to what postage actually costs, but I do still combine postage on everything. Owing to the new GPSR legislation I can no longer post to Northern Ireland, however.

Full description

A little vintage runcible spoon (yes, really, as per The Owl and the Pussycat) with teeth cut into the bowl and a 'dognose' style handle. I've hand stamped it 'RUNCIBLE' with Victorian antique stamping dies. A perfect small gift for anyone who loves quirky old stuff, it's just right for fishing slippery olives or preserved ginger out of a jar or you could go full-on Edward Lear and dine on mince and slices of quince... do be careful though, the teeth are quite sharp so I'd recommend using this as a serving implement only and NOT putting it in your mouth. Also keep out of reach of unsupervised children, just in case. Although if they want to know what the 'runcible spoon' in the poem is, you can show them an actual real one!

You will receive the spoon shown in the photos. It is about 12cm long, and it's vintage (or quite possibly antique) and pre-loved so it does have some wear to its original silver plating, although this doesn't affect its efficacy as a spoon at all. It also has a bit of residual tarnish that can probably be removed with a proprietary silver polish if you'd like your spoon shinier.

The lettering is coloured with a waterbased acrylic ink. Hand washing will make it last longer than chucking it in the dishwasher.
