Full description
An extra set of cross bars for my pair of trestles made from solid hardwood - Beech, Cherry or Walnut - ideal for larger tapestry or embroidery frames. Comes as two sets of 3 - one set for each trestle - which comprises two fixed cross bars which are bolted into the legs and an adjustable cross bar that fits at the top and holds the slate frames either flat or at an angle.
Available in 3 sizes - standard size is deep enough to fit the full depth one of my 24" slate frames front to back, the large size fits a 30" slate frame full size front to back and extra large will fit a 36" slate frame. All sizes will fit just about any width of frame and you can wrap the fabric around the frame to make them narrower, easier to work on that a very deep frame.
THESE CROSS BARS REQUIRE ONE OF MY TRESTLES AND DO NOT FIT OTHER VERSIONS
The cross bars are finished with several coats of a clear varnish to protect the wood. These are heirloom items that are designed to last many, many years.
Beech is the traditional wood that has been used to make trestles and similar items for many years. Beech is a pale wood with a slight brown tinge and a delicate grain. As an alternative, I can make the trestles in cherry which is a classic, rich, red-brown colour that mellows gently over time or as a luxury option, choose walnut with its chocolate, velvety colour and colour swirls
