Spoon rings are believed to have originated in the 17th century. Servants working in big houses sometimes stole a silver spoon to make a wedding ring. Such a crime could result in seven years of imprisonment overseas so was considered a sign of true love and devotion. Nowadays, silver spoons are often found in antique centres and are bought up by dealers who have them melted down as scrap. By turning some into silver rings, I feel as though I am saving a little bit of our heritage and hopefully the designs will live on for many more years.

Ring 98

This beautiful ring is made from a silver demitasse coffee spoon. The spoon was originally made by Henry Williamson Limited and was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1927 or 1928. The ring has a beautiful scroll type design and shows both the original Birmingham hallmark and the new hallmark by Sheffield Assay Office on the underside of the flattened bowl. My rings are wraparound design meaning there is a little give in them and they can be opened up a tiny bit to make for a better fit. I also have several other rings made from the same set of spoons so do get in touch if you need a different size.

With all my rings, once it arrives, if you have any issues with the size, please get in touch.
